Let's make something great together

Hyperkind means empathy paired with inventive energy

We frame our work in: purpose, possibility, pathways, and partnerships.

Each is an invitation to imagine a preferable future, to seek out what's newly possible, chart a clear method, and to walk together.

This is how we help purpose-driven organisations take their vision even further.

  • Purpose

A preferable future shaped through tech

Every project begins by getting clear on the future you are trying to create and who it needs to work for. That clarity shapes decisions all the way through the work: what matters, what can wait, and what should not be built at all.

  • Possibility

Clarity when the path is unfamiliar

Digital potential is not about chasing the newest tool or trend. It is about recognising what has genuinely shifted in technology and society, and understanding what that change now makes possible for your role, your mandate, and the people you serve.

  • Pathways

    Informed choices, grounded in evidence

Our role is to help you move from intent to action by defining a bounded set of viable pathways, each with clear implications, risks, and effort attached. The Hyperkind Method blends human-centred design with an evidence-led, experimental mindset.

  • Partnerships

Working best when ownership is shared

That means sharing context early, making decisions together, and being open about constraints as well as possibilities. The goal is building trust, transferring capability and momentum that continues after launch.

Our story

Hyperkind began as Oxide Interactive in 2003.

Over more than two decades, our work evolved to delivering whole-of-government digital systems, and websites used by millions of people. The questions became more complex, the systems more critical, and the work increasing visible to public scrutiny.

Hyperkind is the name that finally fits where we landed. Focused on public good, grounded in experience, and deliberate about how digital capability is used in the world.

Leadership

Alexi Paschalidis, CEO

Alexi first founded Oxide Interactive and has spent more than 25 years leading the delivery of digital systems for government, cultural, and public-sector organisations. Across hundreds of projects, he has delivered public launches, high visibility, and long-term responsibility.

Hyperkind reflects how Alexi leads today. It is a deliberate evolution shaped by experience, bringing together smaller, values-aligned teams, and a way of working designed to carry ambition through to delivery.

Erin Starling, Delivery Manager

Erin manages service delivery and has been with us for over a decade. She brings deep operational knowledge of our work, our clients, and the realities of delivering digital projects on target. Erin provides steady oversight across engagements, with calm judgement that helps maintain consistency, trust, and momentum from start to finish.

Purpose in what we do

These outcomes shape everyday experiences with public services, and where we choose to focus our work:

  • Transparency that drives trust through public information and data that people can understand and use.
  • Learning without barriers so access to knowledge does not depend on circumstances.
  • Reliable health info and guidance so important decisions are informed by evidence people can trust.
  • Preserving stories and identity so culture and memory remain accessible, relevant, and alive.
  • Public systems people can rely on that are fair, resilient, and worthy of confidence.

Values

  • Choose work that matters

We are deliberate about what we take on. We do our best work where outcomes matter beyond delivery, shaping real experiences and positive change.

  • Listen before we design

We know that most problems are best explained by the people living with them. We take time to learn the context and history before proposing solutions.

  • Be optimistic and pragmatic

We believe things can be better, and have a role in making that possible. Optimism means offering solutions and practical ways forward within real constraints.

  • Care about craft, and keep learning

Good outcomes come from skill, attention, and humility. We take pride in making things well, and we know there is always more to learn.

  • Transparency over theatre

Our clients should understand what's really going on. We share what we know, explain what's driving decisions, and keep the work understandable throughout.

  • Say the hard things early

We ask direct questions, say the difficult thing early, and work through problems together. Speaking candidly surfaces issues early and leads to clearer decisions.
