The Transparency Portal is a central online platform that brings together Commonwealth performance reporting for all government departments and agencies, making it accessible and comparable for anyone seeking clarity in government planning and performance.
Purpose
The program exists to create a single, trusted source for government planning and performance data, enabling Australians to track public sector outcomes and fostering accountability across the Commonwealth.
Challenge
The core challenge was to extract and present detailed data from diverse government documents in a way that withstands heavy use, supports comparison across agencies, and delivers visual clarity - turning raw information into a clear public narrative.

Connecting public to evidence
The Finance Transparency Portal centralises government reporting, allowing Australians to track budget estimates and performance targets over time. By surfacing evidence from disparate documents, the platform makes it easier for people to understand how public funds are directed and what outcomes follow.
Clarity through interactive data
We shaped dense government data into interactive graphs and tables. Users can compare results across agencies or download content for deeper analysis. This visual approach uplifts accessibility, enabling time-poor professionals to quickly find what matters within lengthy documents.
Whole-of-government reporting
The portal scaled from a pilot with 15 agencies to the single source of corporate information for all 188 Commonwealth departments and agencies. This pathway delivered a consistent, authoritative reporting experience, certified and deployed via GovCMS for robust, ongoing access.
Sustainable, transparent partnerships
Our embedded approach meant working alongside the Department of Finance and supporting the platform well beyond launch. Open channels and shared roadmaps ensured the solution kept pace with evolving needs, reflecting a commitment to public-good outcomes.
