Bringing clarity to Australia's unified federal court system
How do you build a single digital entry point for three distinct areas of law, on a hard legislative deadline?
Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia
We partnered with the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia to unify two distinct court websites into a single digital destination on GovCMS. The project demanded a bespoke approach, balancing legislative change, technical rigour, and stakeholder collaboration.
Purpose
The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia website exists to simplify legal pathways for families and individuals, aiming to make legal information and services more accessible, equitable, and responsive to the needs of the Australian public.
Challenge
A fixed legislative deadline required the seamless transition from two separate courts to a single entity overnight. This meant coordinating our technical delivery with multiple vendors, while ensuring the new site provided tailored experiences for distinct areas of law.
Working with other vendors for content and design, we developed a unified website for the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, meeting a critical legislative deadline.
Highlights
- Brought three distinct legal areas into one site, each with its own visual identity and tailored pathways.
- Enabled content to be created once and published across multiple sections, reducing duplication for the client.
- Orchestrated a smooth transition from two separate court websites to a single, approachable destination for all users.
A single entry point
Bringing together two separate court websites into one, we provided a unified digital gateway for the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. This uplift made it easier for families, migrants, and legal professionals to find relevant information in fewer steps.
Distinct experiences for each audience
We tailored the site’s navigation and visual identity for Family Law, Migration Law, and General Federal Law. Each section feels distinct, but content shared across these areas is now created once and published everywhere it’s needed - reducing duplication and streamlining management.
Approachable, not bureaucratic
The new site moves away from the typical government experience. The result is a friendlier, more inviting experience that encourages engagement and helps users resolve legal questions without feeling overwhelmed by formality.
On time, under pressure
With a hard legislative deadline, we delivered a large-scale Drupal site within weeks. Our clear project pathway and cross-skilled team ensured a smooth launch, demonstrating that strong partnerships and open channels can overcome tight timeframes.
Laying groundwork for digital innovation
By consolidating content and simplifying publishing, we positioned the court as a leader in digital service delivery. The new platform opens doors for ongoing improvements and a preferable future for public-facing legal services.
