Enabling confident action for Australian IP rights holders
How do we equip IP owners to navigate enforcement options with clarity and trust?
IP First Response
IPAVentures, the innovation team at IP Australia, partnered with us to rapidly prototype a digital tool that guides Intellectual Property owners through the detail of protecting their rights, while building confidence in the information they receive.
Purpose
The IP First Response website exists to make Australia’s IP landscape more navigable for rights holders, unlocking public value by connecting people with trustworthy, actionable resources that supports fair and effective IP enforcement.
Challenge
The team faced the need to quickly deliver an alpha website on GovCMS for real-world testing, ensuring information accuracy and compliance with strict standards - without sacrificing flexibility for future updates or the clarity essential for legal confidence.
We delivered a website that helps IP rights holders confidently navigate options and understand enforcement pathways.
Project highlights
- Built a validation tool that gives users confidence in the accuracy of information surfaced by the navigator.
- Enabled content administrators to update guidance quickly using a simple spreadsheet upload, supporting ongoing relevance.
- Aligned every content element with IP Australia’s standards, ensuring information is current and never misrepresents legal advice.
Rapid launch for real feedback
We worked closely with IPAVentures to design and deliver a working website in weeks, not months. This early release meant real users could test the system and provide feedback, shaping improvements before a wider rollout.
Reliable answers, every time
By building a validation tool into the website, we ensured that information surfaced by the navigator was both current and accurate. This gave Intellectual Property owners confidence in the recommendations, supporting informed decision-making at every step.
Flexible pathways for content teams
Content administrators can now update key information by uploading simple spreadsheets. This approach removes bottlenecks and allows the team to keep the site relevant as the IP landscape evolves, without hands-on technical support.
Aligned with public-good standards
We worked alongside IPAVentures to ensure all content met IP Australia’s standards. The site provides helpful, up-to-date information while making clear it is not legal advice, supporting trust and transparency for users.
